Big Lottery Fund
Every year BIG gives out millions of pounds from the National Lottery to good causes. Their money goes to community groups and to projects that improve health, education and the environment.

Campaign for Learning
The Campaign for Learning aims to ensure that learning continues throughout life and is involved in researching the process of learning itself. It has worked with the Performance and Innovations Unit in the Cabinet Office to encourage employers to create learning workplaces and it aims to reach potential learners directly through working with the media.

Kids and Reading
This site explores how kids learn to read and the different methods involved. It also provides tips and advice on how you can help your child to learn to read. It contains over 60 articles on the subject with new ones being added.

Can help provide lawyers who will provide legal advice on a pro bono (free) basis to small community groups, charities and social enterprises who cannot afford to pay for legal assistance.

National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER)

The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) is a non-governmental organisation working for more and different adult learners. National Literacy Trust (NLT)
The National Literacy Trust (NLT) is an organisation concerned with raising literacy standards for all age groups throughout the UK. This website provides information on how to effect NLT initiatives and organises email newsletters and conferences which help users share ideas and tips.

Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted)
The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) is the inspectorate for children and adult learners in England, which aims to contribute to the provision of better education and care through effective inspection and regulation. Its website provides information for parents on its inspection procedure as well as guidelines for self-evaluation and information on Ofsted publications and news.

School Governors’ One-Stop Shop
The School Governors’ One-Stop Shop (SGOSS) is a charity which recruits volunteers to become governors in schools across England. Its services are FREE to Local Authorities, volunteers, employers and schools.

Skills Funding Agency
The Skills Funding Agency are an agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and their job is to fund and regulate adult further education and skills training in England. They allocate funding to colleges and other skills and training organisations who have discretion over expenditure to meet the needs of local businesses and communities. They house the National Apprenticeship Service. The Skills Funding Agency champion high standards of training and development through the running of vocational skills competitions and awards.

Teacher Support Network
Teacher Support Network is a group of independent charities and a social enterprise that provide practical and emotional support to staff in the education sector and their families. They offer information, support, and coaching to all teachers and staff.

The Times Educational Supplement (TES)
The Times Educational Supplement (TES) is a publication covering the world of primary, secondary and further education. The TES comprises a mixture of news reporting, background analysis and debate as well as advertising teaching job vacancies. This website provides support for teachers and parents including downloadable lesson plans, tips on assessment and educational news.

Youth Sport Trust (YST)
The Youth Sport Trust (YST) is involved in delivering physical education to all young people regardless of ability. Their website offers information on YST’s sports programmes in addition to links to sports councils and relevant government sites.
